The foundation stone of the BalaLand Familypark was laid in a solemn ceremony, marking the start of the construction of the family-friendly adventure park connected to the BalaLand Hotel in Szántód. The unique, themed hotel and theme park is a joint development of the Szepes family and Appeninn Nyrt., which will not only greatly increase the quality accommodation offer of the Lake Balaton region, but will also stand out among the children-friendly entertainment complexes. The theme park will include play elements based on the "80 days around the world with Willy Fog" journey, which is unique in Hungary. The investment is in line with the strategy of Appeninn Plc, which was updated in the spring and which focuses on increasing the market weight of the real estate company in the field of tourism real estate development.
The foundation stone has been laid for the BalaLand Familypark in Ploód, so the construction of the child-friendly theme park, which is planned to cover an area of almost 5.5 hectares, can begin. The development, which is scheduled for completion in spring 2022, will be linked to the BalaLand Hotel and will offer families additional themed experiences. The unique themed hotel and theme park is a joint development of the Szepes family and Appeninn Nyrt., which will not only greatly enhance the quality accommodation offer of the Lake Balaton region, but will also stand out among the children-friendly entertainment complexes. This summer, Appeninn Nyrt. acquired a 75 percent stake in Dreamland Holding Zrt., which is associated with several domestic theme hotels. The acquisition was made in line with Appeninn Nyrt.'s strategy, which was updated in the spring and in which it set as a priority to increase its market weight in the field of tourism property development - the acquisition of a majority stake in DreamLand Holding Zrt. was one of the first steps in this process.
The developers' aim is to make BalaLand one of the most prominent family-friendly hotels in the Balaton region, and to create a high-quality, year-round, high occupancy hotel with the planned theme park. The hotel, which is planned to be operational from 2022, will not only contribute to the region's quality accommodation offer, but will also directly create more than 100 new jobs in the area and contribute to the development of the Balaton region through significant tax revenues.
The theme park will be based on the unique "80 days around the world with Willy Fog" journey and will feature a variety of themed play elements. The park, which will include an indoor playhouse and a family adventure pool, as well as various outdoor adventure elements, will be a niche investment in Hungary, and will become a high-quality, child-friendly attraction that will be available to families all year round, extending the short summer season.
The theme park is being built next to the 109-room, five-star colonial-style family hotel, BalaLand Hotel - the development of the hotel started in 2017 with design work, and this spring the project entered the implementation phase and civil engineering works began.
Appeninn Plc. is committed to the early implementation of these developments, which so far have not been negatively affected or slowed down by the coronavirus epidemic. The BalaLand Hotel and Theme Park are investments that will increase shareholder value due to their value-retaining nature and will provide the company with steady, predictable income once completed.
