Work has begun on the Balatonfüred port area, where Appeninn Nyrt., the majority owner of the operating company, is planning a large-scale port and hotel development. The company's aim, in line with its updated strategy published earlier this year, is to further enhance the tourism attractiveness of the area through the port and its future hotel complex.
Construction work has started on the Balatonfüred port area. The development includes the complete renovation of the harbour and the construction of a premium hotel complex in the undeveloped area of the centre of Balatonfüred. Appeninn Nyrt. became the majority owner of the Balatonfüred port in January 2020, after acquiring a 76% stake in Solum-Invest Ingatlanfejlesztő és Üzemeltető Kft.
With the complete development of the marina, which can accommodate around 170 sailing boats, and the redevelopment of the pier, the aim is not just to provide general, everyday functions: the company wants the area to become a place that is even more attractive to local sailing communities and sailing competitions. The entire development project, for which Solum-Invest Ltd. has submitted a tender for the development of a marina and accommodation under the Kisfaludy Tourism Development Programme, is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
The construction of the hotel started with the civil engineering works. According to the plans of Appeninn Plc, the four-star complex will have more than 100 rooms and, like the marina, will be open not only seasonally but throughout the year, thus meeting the needs of today's holidaymakers.
One of the main focus areas in the updated strategy published earlier this year is tourism property development. The Balatonfüred developments fit perfectly into the company's efforts in this direction. The management of Appeninn Nyrt believes that, once the works are completed, the resort will become a true jewel in the town's crown and an important centre for Balaton shipping, which will also support the local economy. The company is also taking sustainability and the interests of the local population into account in the development.
